Russian delegates with the New Orleans Citizen Diplomacy Council

On October 12, 2010, a group of 8 Russian delegates with the New Orleans Citizen Diplomacy Council met with Plaquemines Parish District Attorney’s Office Domestic Violence Coordinator, Mary Jane Tesvich and Domestic Violence Diversion Coordinator, Bonnie Bondi to discuss the offices efforts in addressing and prosecuting cases of domestic violence. Ms. Mary Jane Tesvich explained how the office collaborates with police and the nearby counseling center to assist victims.

The group also visited the courtroom and met with Amy Smith, Civil Minute Clerk, Division B, to discuss how domestic violence offenses are handled in Plaquemines Parish.

Following the court visit, the delegates made a stop at the counseling center where they shared issues victims of domestic violence face in their countries with the center’s staff.
