4-month drug investigation identifies 27 suspects in Plaquemines Parish

Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives have arrested 21 suspects in a 4-month undercover narcotics investigation called “Operation United,” an effort to rid the parish of drug dealers and users on the West Bank of the Mississippi River, Sheriff Lonnie Greco said Thursday. Three more suspects remain at large, and three additional suspects are being held elsewhere…

Several of the suspects are on parole and some have prior felony convictions, exposing them to longer sentences under Louisiana’s habitual offender law, District Attorney Charles Ballay said.

“We’re going to take a bite out of illegal drug activity with this, to be certain,” Ballay said.
