GRAND JURY INDICTMENTS
The Plaquemines Parish District Attorney’s Office reports that on Thursday, July 21, 2022, a Plaquemines Parish Grand Jury convened and returned true bills of indictment in four separate cases.
1st Case – Kenneth Naquin, age 27, from Metairie, LA was indicted on Second Degree Murder.
The incident took place on May 11, 2022 in the West Ravenna Road area of Plaquemines Parish. The defendant, a dump truck driver, shot Jimmy Fullerton, Jr., another dump truck driver, multiple times in the back and face. PPSO Officers and Detectives apprehended Naquin with the help of two eyewitnesses.
A conviction of Second-Degree Murder is punishable by life imprisonment without the benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence.
2nd Case – Kole Peoples, age 18, from Buras, LA was indicted on two counts of First-Degree Rape.
The incidents took place in 2019 in Buras on multiple occasions when the juvenile victim was between the ages of 6 and 10.
A conviction of First-Degree Rape is punishable by life imprisonment without the benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence.
3rd Case – Tommy Tran, age 50, from Buras, LA was indicted on two counts of Attempted Second Degree Murder, Illegal Discharge of a Firearm and Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property.
The incident took place on May 24, 2022 in Buras, LA. Defendant shot his handgun at a person in a vehicle passing striking it and shattering the back window and leaving the bullet lodged in the passenger side headliner just inches from a passenger’s head. The vehicle also had two young juveniles in it at the time of the incident.
A conviction of Attempted Second-Degree Murder is punishable by 10 to 50 years of imprisonment without the benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence, Illegal Discharge of a Firearm is punishable by 10 to 20 years of imprisonment without the benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence and Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property is punishable by imprisonment of not more than 15 years and/or fined not more than $10,000.00.
4th Case – Reginald Hamilton, age 18, from New Orleans, LA was indicted on Aggravated Second Degree Battery, Aggravated Flight from An Officer Where Human Life was Endangered and Aggravated Obstruction of a Highway.
The incident took place on May 31, 2022 in the early morning hours after defendant was pursued by PPSO deputies on an ATV on Woodland Highway (Highway 406) in Belle Chasse. In the attempt to stop the fleeing defendant Lt. Edmund Fisher was struck by the ATV driven by Hamilton on Woodland Bridge causing serious bodily injuries. The pursuit was conducted by several deputies of the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office. Louisiana State Police were called out due the severity of the incident and that a police officer was involved.
A conviction of Aggravated Second Degree Battery is punishable by imprisonment of not more than 15 years and/or fined not more than $10,000.00, Aggravated Flight from An Officer Where Human Life was Endangered is punishable by imprisonment of not more than 10 year and/or fined not more than $2,000.00, Aggravated Obstruction of a Highway is punishable by imprisonment of not more than 15 years.
The case arraignments and trials will be set at a later date. The Grand Jury was handled by DA Charles Ballay and ADA’s Jason Napoli and Sarah Tesvich. The indictment returns were made in open court to Judge Kevin D. Conner.
