The intention of this group is to provide support and psychoeducation
for survivors of sexual assault.Group participants will learn about how
trauma can affect our bodies, minds and relationships, as well as
learn mindfulness skills for healthy coping. Members are encouraged
to both share their experiences and offer support to other members
as we discuss topics such as survival, intimacy, shame, coping mechanisms, justice, sexuality
and individual trauma narratives. Each client will be asked to complete a brief screening prior to
enrollment to screen for group appropriateness. Safety and confidentiality will be emphasized
throughout. The group is limited to a maximum of 12 members and offered in a closed group
format. No new members will be introduced once the 12-week meeting cycle begins.
WHERE: The Plaquemines Community CARE Centers Foundation, Inc . *In consideration of
safety restrictions pertaining to COVID-19, the group will meet weekly via Zoom until further
notice.
WHEN: Thursdays, 10 am, for a 12-week period
COST: This group is offered free of charge through the Victims of Crime Act grant
