The Plaquemines Parish District Attorney’s Office reports that on Monday, April 1, 2024, a Plaquemines Parish Grand Jury convened and returned a true bill of indictment on Lonnie Williams, age 40, from Buras, LA. Williams was indicted on First Degree Rape, Home Invasion, and Aggravated Assault with a Firearm. The incident occurred on October 17, 2021.
A conviction of First-Degree Rape is punishable by life imprisonment without the benefit of parole, probation, or suspension, Home Invasion is punishable by a fine of not more than five thousand dollars and imprisonment at hard labor for not less than one year nor more than thirty years, and Aggravated Assault with a Firearm is punishable by fine of not more than ten thousand dollars or imprisoned for not more than ten years, or both.
Assistant District Attorney Mary Touzet presented the case to the Grand Jury.
