On September 9, 2024 the District Attorney, Charles J. Ballay, with assistance from Assistant District Attorney Mary Touzet, hosted a continuing legal education training to attorneys and staff working in the criminal justice system in Plaquemines Parish and Jefferson Parish. Mrs. Marianne Fletchinger, Regional Attorney with the Louisiana Department of Health, instructed participants on Louisiana insanity laws, mental incapacity to proceed, and defense of insanity at the time of offense. The seminar was well attended and included attendees from various offices. In attendance were Judge Michael Clement and staff, Judge Kevin Conner and staff, Coroner Dr. Wolfson, Assistant Coroner Anthony Buras, First Assistant Parish Attorney Jacque Touzet, Assistant Parish Attorney Avery Riley, Interim Chief Public Defender Paul Fleming, Jr., A.D.A Jason Napoli, A.D.A. Sarah Tesvich, A.D.A. Temia Griffin, and D.A.’s Office staff.
