The Plaquemines Parish District Attorney’s Office reports that on Thursday, February 1, 2024, a Plaquemines Parish Grand Jury convened and returned true bills of indictment on three defendants. The cases are as follows:
Darrnell Miller, Jr., age 23, from Port Sulphur, LA was indicted for the crime of Second Degree Rape. The incident occurred between January 1, 2020, to December 31, 2020. The defendant climbed through his victim’s bedroom window and committed the attack.
A conviction of Second Degree Rape is punishable by imprisonment without the benefit of parole, probation, or suspension for not less than five years and no more than forty years.
Daniel J. Loup, age 57, from Marrero, LA was indicted for the crimes of Indecent Behavior With a Juvenile, Third Degree Rape, and Aggravated Rape. The incidents occurred on or about May 20, 2023.
A conviction of Indecent Behavior With a Juvenile is punishable by a fine of not more than five thousand dollars or imprisonment with or without hard labor for not more than seven years, or both. Third Degree Rape is punishable by imprisonment without the benefit of parole, probation, or suspension for not more than twenty-five years. Aggravated Rape is punishable by life imprisonment without the benefit of parole, probation, or suspension.
Robert Ivey, age 32, from Brandon, MS was indicted for the crimes of Indecent Behavior With a Juvenile Under the Age of Thirteen. The incident occurred on or between December 1, 2019 and December 31, 2021.
A conviction of Indecent Behavior With a Juvenile Under the Age of Thirteen is punishable by imprisonment at hard labor for not less than two years but no more than twenty-five with at least two years to be without the benefit of parole, probation, or suspension.
Assistant District Attorney Jason Napoli presented the case to the Grand Jury.
