BELLE CHASSE, October 22, 2024
Charles J. Ballay, District Attorney for the Parish of Plaquemines, reports that on October 22, 2024, a Plaquemines Parish Grand Jury convened and returned a true bill of indictment on Victor Battle, age 21, from Port Sulphur, Louisiana. Battle was indicted for Second Degree Murder and Possession of a Firearm or Carrying a Concealed Weapon by a Convicted Felon.
The murder occurred in Port Sulphur on August 26, 2024. The case was investigated by Detective Victoria Barrois.
A Second Degree Murder conviction carries a sentence of life at hard labor. Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon carries a sentence of five to twenty years at hard labor.
Battle is set for Arraignment before The Honorable Judge Kevin D. Conner on November 4, 2024.
The case is prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Jason Napoli and Mary Touzet.
